What is Blue Shirt Friday?
“Blue Shirt Friday” is a national campaign to increase awareness of the disease Pulmonary Fibrosis (PF),
and the shirt color was chosen by a PF patient "Because blue is the color of my lungs deprived of oxygen by
PF". The shirts raise funds to benefit the PF community in many ways, and the spirit of the blue shirt
message is multiplied by asking that they all be worn on a single day - Friday.
The idea has received the support of thousands of people nationwide (even world-wide: from Canada to Dubai
and many other countries). The Blue Shirt message has became a common voice for PF patients, their family
and friends, and gives them a chance to make others aware of the deadly disease and its symptoms.
What is the Second Edition?
FOR 2012 THAT SPIRIT CONTINUES, with a new “Second Edition Blue Shirt for PF” , sponsored by the
Pulmonary Fibrosis Association (www.pfatx.org), and carrying another
message to renew and spread discussions about PF. Funds raised will provide assistance to the PF Community.
A Message from our President
I hope you will join us to help spread awareness about this terrible, often fatal disease. I understand
the need because I also have a ‘blue’ lung from PF, alongside a transplanted pink and healthy lung (February
3rd, 2011), but I will still do all I can to help other Patients with PF... As our Association’s statement
of purpose reflects:
We may not be able to add days to their life, but
we hope to add move life to their days.
Together we can make a difference.
